Grendha Girl raises cash in Race for Life 2011

Marie is one of the founding members of Grendha in the UK, has responsibility for all the finances and assists with our product selection each year. Her favourites of 2011 are from the gem stone flip flop range.

A quick word from Marie after completing the Race For Life.

Many women have a personal reason for taking part in Race for Life. Some have been touched by cancer or are taking part in memory or celebration of a loved one.Others are taking part to get fit or to lose weight.

I decided to join the Race for Life in Penzance because sadly I knew and know too many people, (close family and friends), who have been affected by cancer in some way.

My father in law John passed away 3 years ago with a rare form of cancer, thankfully most of them are still here, my dad and my lovely friend Kate Baigent, who were treated successfully.

I wanted to be a part of race for life knowing that I could help someone, anyone who needs treatment. With the support and fundraising through Race for Life and Cancer Research thousands more will be treated successfully and inch closer to finding a cure.

Race for Life events are fantastic fun for women of all ages and fitness levels and I would personally like to thank the amazing volunteers who donate their time and energy to help make the events happen.

I am glad I took part, the race was 5K and I managed to complete it in 36 minutes (not wearing Grendha Flip Flops) of which I am extremely proud and would like to congratulate the thousands of women, children and dogs who also took part.

Over 67K raised alone in Penzance, amazing.

See you all again next year.
