Grendha Enviroment and Ethics

Grendha is Grendene’s fastest growing brand for women.

Enviromental Responsibility

Our commitment to people’s quality of life and the environment makes Grendene an economically, environmentally and socially responsible company. Moreover, our “Waste Management” program seeks to decrease the environmental impacts deriving from our activities and to, reclaim, recycle and/or give proper destination to all the residues our company generates.

At Grendene, reforestation plants are grown in greenhouses and watered with water reclaimed from the factories and treated in a reservoir pond, in a renewable resource-oriented process. Additionally, unused paint is removed from the water so that both the water and the paint can be reused.

The 35 tons of acetone used to clean the sandal molds are sent to Grendene’s distillery and yield 29 tons of acetone for reuse monthly. Used lubricating oil is stored and sent for reprocessing by a company holding an environmental license to refine it.

Added to that is the fact that no raw material we use contains lead, and all damaged fluorescent lights are decontaminated so as to not harm the soil and water.

As a result, potentially harmful products are properly treated, thus preventing damage to the environment.

Always looking for new ways to decrease wastefulness and increase sustainability, Grendene reaffirms the company’s commitment to the environment by researching how to manufacture biodegradable PVC and controlling our entire production process, from beginning to end. APEL, one of the top Brazilian environmental agencies, makes sure Grendene complies with every single environmental guideline.

Every month we recycle
- 36.5 tons of paint residues
- 722 tons of PVC
- 84 tons of vinyl
- 83 tons of cardboard
- 6 tons of plastic
- 960 tons of material is recycled on a monthly basis, decreasing our impact by 11,500 tons every year.
