About Grendene (who manufacture Grendha)

Little by little, a small plastic packaging factory founded in Rio Grande do Sul in 1971 has become one of the largest footwear manufacturers in the world.

The company owns numerous successful and recognized brands, including Melissa, Rider, Grendha, Ipanema Gisele Bündchen, Ipanema, Grendene Kids and Grendene Baby.

Grendha is Grendene’s fastest growing brand for women. Grendha uses technology to create trendy footwear at a competitive price. Grendha shoes are of the finest quality and fuse the trends of fashion with the needs of a practical, dynamic, working woman in Brazil and the world beyond.

It is exuberance paired with the renowned versatility, femininity and convenience of the Grendha line. The range for summer 2010 brings styles that combine the beauty of the colours, stones and geometric shapes of the East, and convenient design that is perfect for women’s everyday lives.

The Product Development Department has played a vital role in the history and success of Grendene. The department’s driving force is the diverse people within it; not just the high-tech equipment. Everything within the Product Development Department was conceived to make Grendene one of the most creative companies for fashionable footwear development in the world. To create products with a Brazilian profile the inspiration comes from the streets, the kilometers of white sand coastline, the tropical culture, and the needs and desires of millions of Brazilians.

Grendene’s complex includes a complete laboratory dedicated to the development of PVC. In this facility, research on the PVC’s texture, density and performance is completed to ensure the formulation of the best raw materials for each product. Researchers in this laboratory have currently developed more than 70 unique formulations of PVC. Other shoe manufacturers use a single formulation for all their products, regardless of fit, function or wearability.

Over 150,000,000 Pairs Of Shoes Produced Each Year

The Quality Control Laboratory upholds the highest standards of quality for consumers. To maintain these standards Grendene established criteria of rigorous quality control for testing its products. All components used in the production of Grendene products are also thoroughly evaluated ensuring they adhere to both national and international quality standards.
