7 Top tips for great summer nails
Now you are wearing your sandals its time to brighten up your nails.
Here are a few tips on how to get the perfect nails and choosing the right colours for summer.
1. Dry Manicure -nails are naturally porous so when soaking they absorb the water and changes the shape.
2. Cuticles - push back the cuticle when soft, so in the shower add some conditioner to the nail and simply push back.
3. Buffing - smooth out the surface of the nail, the smoother the nail the smoother the canvas, so buffing should be done lightly and with care.
4. Clean those nails - clean your nails with either acetone or alcohol to remove dirt and debris before adding a base coat.
5. Base Coat - apply a base coat right up to the cuticle.
6. Colour - don’t shake the bottle as this creates air bubbles - roll between your hands for a smoother varnish.
7. Don’t layer darker colours as these tend to crack because of the higher pigment content!
Hot colours for summer
Here’s a few tips on hot shades to use this summer.
Purples and lavenders look great with most skin tones and black sandals particularly when finished with the ultimate pearlescent polish.
Peachy Pinks will look great for summer and set off a tan to great effect especially when wearing white sandals.
Blue is a great summer shade to have fun with, from very dark to very pale both look great with your favorite summer top or dress to wear in the evening with a wedge flip flop.

Add some finishing touches
A must for the ultimate glossy finish and to increase durability of your nail polish is to add a top coat. Be sure to wait until the polish has dried before applying as it is designed to be quick drying and can dry before before the polish if you are too quick, preventing the polish from hardening correctly.
For a different look use a top coat that cracks over your colour.
Choose between one that adds a slick holographic shimmer or one that adds a gilded layer of pale nude shimmer. A silver shatter topcoat works particularly well when applied over dry nail lacquer, this looks works so well with sandals in metallic shades.

Nail polish for the 21st century
Another alternative is to use Nail Polish Strips.
They are made from real polish are easy to apply and come in an array of styles, solid colours, neons, stripes and patterns, in fact just about anything you can imagine. Great for matching to an outfit, accessories or your favourite flip flops.

Time for a change - but which remover to use
Is Acetone safer than Nonacetone polish remover?
Acetone is much more effective at evaporating the polish and lifting it off the nail and skin faster therefore reducing the time the cleaning agent is in contact with your skin. Non acetone remover has to be held in place for much longer to remove the polish.
As far as which is preferred, it’s really your personal preference. But for removing sparkly, glitter nail polish, it's best to go with the big guns -- acetone polish remover. The chemicals in glitter nail polish make it more difficult than other polishes to break down.
